HSC Examinee Drowns at Sugandha Point in Cox's Bazar

An HSC examinee drowned in the Bay of Bengal at Cox's Bazar's Sugandha Point on Friday morning.

The deceased 20-year-old Yasin Arafat was a resident of the Peshkar Para area in Cox's Bazar town and a candidate in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations.

According to beach authorities Yasin and his friends went to Sugandha Point to play football at around 10:00 am. Following the game the group entered the sea to bathe. Yasin was soon pulled underwater by strong waves.

Sea Safe Lifeguard personnel immediately launched a rescue operation, pulling him from the water in critical condition. He was rushed to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead upon arrival.

Md. Osman in-charge of the Sea Safe Lifeguards on duty, confirmed the incident. "Yasin drowned while bathing with his friends. Our team rescued him and promptly sent him to the hospital, but unfortunately he could not be saved," he stated.
