Prime Minister Tarique Rahman underscored the government's commitment to transforming the police into a truly people-friendly force during a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday.
Addressing police officers on the occasion of National Police Week-2026, the Prime Minister stated that the police administration serves as a mirror of the government. He urged officers to view incidents of corruption and terrorism as individual crimes rather than political actions.
"In a democracy, neither the government nor administrative posts are permanent," Rahman remarked, noting that history has repeatedly proven this reality. He emphasized that the same principle applies to all ranks within public and police administration.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the nation’s progress toward becoming a prosperous, safe, and humane Bangladesh relies heavily on the integrity of law enforcement. He called for a multi-faceted, skilled force capable of serving anywhere in the country without compromising professional standards.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister announced that the government would strictly implement the 'July Charter.' He asserted that honesty, merit, and efficiency would be the sole criteria for recruitment, transfers, and promotions moving forward. "How citizens perceive the government depends largely on the police," he concluded, urging officers to lead with humanity.
