


The body of Nahida Sultana Brishit, a PhD student at the University of South Florida who was murdered in the United States, arrived in Bangladesh on Saturday morning.
The Emirates flight carrying her body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 9:10 am on May 9. Family members and relatives were present at the airport.
According to sources, the body was sent from Orlando International Airport in Florida on Emirates flight EK-0220 at 8:50 pm local time on Thursday. After a transit in Dubai, it arrived in Dhaka on flight EK-0582. A representative of the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami was present during the shipment process.
Brishit’s first funeral prayer was held in Tampa on Wednesday local time.
Earlier, the body of Jamil Ahmed Limon, who was killed in the same incident, arrived in Bangladesh on Monday, May 4.
Meanwhile, the University of South Florida has decided to award posthumous doctorate degrees to Nahida Sultana Brishit and Jamil Ahmed Limon. The degrees will be conferred during the university’s spring convocation.
In a letter sent to the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami on Tuesday, May 5, the university requested that a consulate representative attend the ceremony and receive the honors on behalf of the two families.
The two Bangladeshi students went missing on April 16. Later, US citizen Hisham Abu Gharbeh was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the killings.
