Indian Navy ship INS Sunaina arrived in Bangladesh on Friday for a three-day goodwill visit, according to a Bangladesh Navy press release.
The visiting ship was received in Bangladeshi waters by Bangladesh Navy vessel BNS Ali Haider.
After arriving at Chittagong Port, the ship was welcomed with a traditional naval band performance. The Chief Staff Officer of the Chittagong Naval Region later greeted the captain, officers and sailors of the vessel.
Senior Bangladesh Navy officials and a representative of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka were present during the reception ceremony.
During the visit, a delegation led by the ship’s captain and the Naval Adviser of the Indian High Commission will pay courtesy calls on the Commander of the Chittagong Naval Region, the BN Fleet Commander, the Dockyard Area Superintendent and the Chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority.
As part of the programme, the visiting officers and sailors will tour Bangladesh Navy training facilities, naval ships and several historical and tourist sites in Chittagong.
The Bangladesh Navy said the visit will help strengthen professional cooperation and exchange of experience between the navies of Bangladesh and India. It also expressed hope that the visit would further enhance bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
The Indian naval ship is scheduled to leave Bangladeshi waters on Sunday.
