President Shahabuddin Leaves for UK for Medical Follow-up

President Md. Shahabuddin departed for the United Kingdom on Saturday morning for a scheduled medical check-up and follow-up treatment.

The President left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at approximately 7:45 am on a regular Biman Bangladesh Airlines commercial flight (BG-201). He is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Rebeka Sultana, personal physicians, and a small entourage of Bangabhaban officials.

Senior dignitaries, including Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, and the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, saw the President off at the airport.This visit follows the President’s successful cardiac bypass surgery performed at the National University Hospital in Singapore in October 2023. According to the President’s Press Wing, this UK trip serves as a necessary post-operative evaluation at a specialized hospital.

President Shahabuddin is expected to return to Dhaka on May 18.
