The nation is celebrating Independence and National Day 2026 with a grand parade and flypast at the National Parade Square. The event, which began at 9:30 am today (March 26), marks the return of the March 26 parade after an 18-year hiatus.
President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman are attending the ceremony alongside service chiefs, cabinet members, and foreign diplomats.
Earlier today at 6:00 am, the President and Prime Minister visited the National Memorial in Savar to pay floral tributes to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War. A tri-service contingent offered a state salute as the nation observed a moment of silence.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the parade is open to the public. Visitors may enter through gates 2, 3, 4, 10, and 11. For security reasons, the authorities have requested that attendees do not carry bags.
Managed by the 9th Infantry Division under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, this year’s celebration holds significant historical weight as the first March 26 parade organized at this scale since 2008.
