A two-and-a-half-year-old boy drowned in a pond in Porsha upazila on Friday morning. The deceased, Abrar Fahad, was the son of Abdul Quddus from Dighipara village in Tentulia union.
The incident occurred around 11:00 AM when Fahad and his cousin, one-and-a-half-year-old Farhan Sadiq, were playing near their home. Without their family's knowledge, both children fell into the nearby pond. While Farhan was rescued alive, Fahad went missing under the water. After an extensive search, his body was recovered floating in the pond.
Local authorities and health officials frequently remind parents to remain vigilant, as drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death for children in rural Bangladesh, particularly during the pre-monsoon season.
