


The burial of Abul Kalam (36), who was tragically killed when a bearing pad fell from the Dhaka Metro Rail pillar in the Farmgate area on Sunday, was completed.
The funeral, which cast a shadow of mourning over the region, was held at his village of Ishwarkathi in Naria, followed by the burial on Monday (October 27th) morning at the Naria Central Jame Masjid Cemetery in Shariatpur.
Abul Kalam Azad, the youngest of four brothers, hailed from the Moktar Char union of Naria upazila. A Jagannath University graduate, he lived in Narayanganj with his wife and two young children, Abdullah (5) and Suraya Akter (3), and ran a travel agency business in Dhaka.
Witnesses recounted that the heavy metal bearing pad hit the pedestrian's head while he was walking near the spot, causing fatal injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but declared dead upon arrival.
Naria Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Lucky Das expressed sadness over the death and confirmed the upazila administration took part in the burial, assuring the family of continued support in any need. Abul Kalam died instantly during the accident while on his way to the Farmgate area of Dhaka.
