An unprecedented four-tier security blanket has been thrown over the National Parliament’s South Plaza ahead of Tuesday's historic swearing-in ceremony for the new government.
For the first time in Bangladesh’s history, the oath-taking ceremony—marking the BNP’s absolute majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election—will be held at the South Plaza. Over 1,000 domestic and foreign dignitaries are expected to attend the event.
A massive contingent of 15,000 personnel from the Bangladesh Police, RAB, Army, and BGB has been mobilized. Specialized units, including SWAT, Bomb Disposal, and K9 squads, have already conducted sweeps of the venue. Plainclothes detectives are also stationed at strategic points throughout the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed that cabinet members will receive security protocols from their residences to the venue. "A 50-vehicle motorcade is ready for protocol duties," stated SN Md. Nazrul Islam, DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations).
To facilitate the ceremony, traffic movement on Manik Mia Avenue and Lake Road will be restricted starting Tuesday morning. Guests and authorized personnel must enter through the Parliament gates adjacent to Manipuri Para and Asad Gate.
While authorities stated there are no specific security threats, maximum precautions are being taken to ensure the transition of power proceeds smoothly and safely.
