A devastating road accident in Saudi Arabia has claimed the lives of five Bangladeshis, including four members of the same family from Lakshmipur. The tragedy occurred near the city of Abha as the family was returning home after performing Umrah.

The victims have been identified as Mizanur Rahman Mizan (40), his wife Farzana Akhter Sumi (30), and their two daughters, Meher Afroz (13) and Subha Akhter (1.5). The driver of the vehicle, Md. Jilani Babar (30), also died in the crash.

Mizan’s 11-year-old niece, Faiza Akhter, survived the accident but remains in critical condition at a hospital in Jeddah.

Mizan, a long-term expatriate worker in Saudi Arabia, hailed from Nalchara village in Ramganj Upazila, Lakshmipur. According to his elder brother, Baharul Alam, the family had traveled to perform Umrah on February 3. The accident took place around 3:00 AM (Bangladesh time) during their return journey.

The news has cast a deep shadow of grief over their ancestral home in Ramganj, where relatives and neighbors are mourning the loss.
