


In a high-level move to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, the chiefs of the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force are scheduled to meet with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin today, December 21, at 2:30 PM.
The meeting, held at the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat in Agargaon, focuses on a comprehensive security strategy for the general election and the referendum on the "July National Charter," both slated for February 12, 2025.
Discussions will center on the recovery of illegal arms, suppression of criminal activities, and the deployment of joint forces to maintain law and order before, during, and after the polls.
Approximately 700,000 law enforcement personnel will be mobilized. This includes 90,000+ members of the Armed Forces, 550,000 members of Ansar and VDP also coordinated units from Police, RAB, BGB, and the Coast Guard.
Security will be tightened across 43,000 polling centers and 260,000 booths, with 13 to 18 security personnel assigned per center.
The EC will review the strict implementation of the new Code of Conduct for candidates and political parties to ensure a level playing field.
The meeting will be attended by a wide array of top officials, including the Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, the Home Secretary, the IGP, and heads of intelligence agencies such as NSI and DGFI.
