Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed a positive view on the "principles" of a revised US plan to end the war with Russia, stating they could pave the way for "deeper agreements.
In his daily address, Zelensky emphasized the importance of the United States, noting that "much depends on America" due to Russia's attention to American strength. He expressed hope for "further active cooperation with the American side and with President (Donald) Trump."
The original US plan had been criticized as being too favorable to Moscow, prompting the update. While the revised plan is not yet public, Zelensky indicated earlier on Tuesday that Ukraine is ready to "move forward" with its "framework," though he acknowledged "sensitive points" remain.
Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine has its own "framework developed by our teams in Geneva" and is ready to proceed with the US and Europe. He also stated his readiness to meet with President Trump to discuss the sensitive issues and urged European leaders to be involved, asserting that "security decisions about Europe must include Europe."
The US was reportedly holding separate talks with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi on the same day.
