The Chattogram Metropolitan South Branch of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir held a rally and public gathering on Friday (February 6) to mark the organisation’s 49th foundation anniversary.
The rally began around 10:00am from Agrabad, a major commercial area of the city, and concluded at Dewanhat, drawing participation from party leaders and activists.
Chattogram Metropolitan South Chhatra Shibir President Maimunul Islam Mamun attended the programme as the chief guest, while Shamsuzzaman Helali, Jamaat-e-Islami–nominated parliamentary candidate for Chattogram-10, was present as a special guest.
Addressing the gathering after the rally, Maimunul Islam Mamun paid tribute to four deceased leaders and activists of the organisation—Imran Khan Rajib, Abid Bin Islam, Sakibul Islam and Faisal Ahmed Shanto. He said that despite facing various challenges, Islami Chhatra Shibir continues to work for the moral, academic and ideological development of students.
In his speech, special guest Shamsuzzaman Helali urged students to build themselves on the principles of patriotism, ethics and idealism, stressing the importance of responsible leadership among the youth.
The programme was also attended by former organisation presidents Kefayet Ullah and Shahidul Islam, former Metropolitan Secretary Mohammad Iqbal, and other local leaders.
