The Chattogram Metropolitan North branch of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir organized an awareness program today to protest the rising incidents of child rape and brutal murder.
The program, titled 'Youth Against Rape,' began at 7:00 AM on Sunday (May 24) from the city's Parade Corner. Activists and leaders marched through several city roads before gathering at the Wali Beg Khan Mosque intersection for a brief rally.
Mominul Haque, a central executive council member of Chhatrashibir and president of the Chattogram Metropolitan North branch, attended as the chief guest. The event was presided over by the branch’s secretary, Khurram Murad.
Speaking at the rally, organizers expressed deep concern over the country's law and order situation, stating that brutal crimes like child rape and murder are shaking the nation's conscience. They noted that public anxiety is compounding alongside daily economic struggles, extortion, and healthcare mismanagement.
The speakers emphasized that a unified social resistance has not yet materialized to counter these crimes. They called upon the youth, as well as citizens from all walks of life, to build a collective front against social degradation and injustice to ensure a safer Bangladesh. Leaders confirmed that awareness campaigns under the 'Youth Against Rape' banner will continue across the city.
