Barrister Ragib Rouf Chowdhury, the BNP candidate for Kushtia-2, pledged to eliminate local crime and restore the rule of law during a series of campaign road rallies on Saturday.
Addressing supporters in Bheramara Upazila, Chowdhury—a member of the BNP Central Committee—promised a "zero tolerance" policy toward terrorism and extortion. "We will not compromise on protecting the lives, property, and honor of our citizens," he told the crowd, adding that his leadership would prioritize ending drug abuse and violence against women in the region.
Chowdhury framed the upcoming February 12 election as a fight for democratic rights. He described the "paddy sheaf" symbol not just as a party icon, but as a representation of the people's hopes for safety and economic stability. He criticized the current state of the country, citing rising unemployment and a "deep crisis" in public security.
"Honest leadership is the only way to improve our society," Chowdhury said, while also voicing support for the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
The rallies were chaired by Bulbul Ahmed Bulu and featured several local BNP leaders, including Bheramara Upazila BNP Joint Convener Principal Aslam Uddin and Supreme Court lawyer Adv. Bulbul Abu Sayeed Shamim. Speakers urged voters to turn out in large numbers to support a change in governance.
