Actress Taapsee Pannu has expressed deep concern over the hazardous Air Quality Index (AQI) levels recently witnessed in major Indian cities, particularly Delhi and Mumbai, where she has lived.

The actress stated that the current air pollution crisis was inevitable and that anyone claiming not to have anticipated it was either "unreasonably optimistic or living under a rock." Pannu stressed that clean air is a fundamental right, not a luxury. She questioned the point of working so hard when one cannot even afford the basic necessity of clean air, highlighting the inhuman conditions being forced upon the older and future generations.

She predicted a future where the wealthy would start relocating to places with better living conditions, leaving the poor and marginal classes—who have nowhere to go—to suffer the most. She concluded with an urgent call to action, emphasizing the need to take public health and environmental concerns seriously.

Delhi: The air quality was significantly worse, frequently categorized as Severe (301-400) or Very Poor (201-300). The search results show recent Delhi AQI readings around the Very Poor mark (e.g., 338, 377, 279), with some locations hitting the Severe (400+) category.

Mumbai: The air quality was predominantly in the Unhealthy (151-200) category (or 'Poor'). Recent readings found in the search results place Mumbai's AQI around 171 (Poor) and 103 (Moderate) on the days surrounding the actor's statement, though it had spiked to 'Very Poor' in some locations earlier.
