Streaming giant Netflix is making a significant entry into the permanent theme park space with the opening of its first "Netflix House" location, positioning itself as a rival to entertainment behemoths like Disney and Universal Studios.
The inaugural "Netflix House" is set to open its doors on Wednesday at the King of Prussia mall in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This first location occupies a massive space measuring over 100,000 square feet (10,000 square meters), marking a substantial capital investment for the company.
Moving beyond its successful temporary pop-up events, the permanent attraction will feature a wide range of dining and activities themed and decorated to resemble some of the platform's most popular content, including: Bridgerton,,Stranger Things, Squid Game, KPop Demon Hunters.
In a move emphasizing accessibility, Netflix Chief Marketing Officer Marian Lee confirmed that the theme park will offer free admission, aiming to be an "everyday destination."
Netflix is already planning subsequent locations across the United States: Dallas, Texas: Scheduled to debut on December 11 and Las Vegas Strip, Nevada: Set to open by 2027. This location will be different, as it will be on the Strip rather than inside a shopping center, allowing for different programming. As of now, there are no immediate plans for building a "Netflix House" internationally, as the company would need to rethink its approach for the global market.
