Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Haque, Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, has said the force is fully prepared to ensure a free, fair and impartial election on February 12.

He made the remarks at a press briefing held on Friday afternoon at the Rajapur–Kachia Contingent area of Madhya Elisha Government Primary School ground in Bhola Sadar.

“The Coast Guard is working to create a safe, neutral and festive environment so that voters can cast their ballots without fear,” Rear Admiral Ziaul Haque said. “We hope to contribute to a credible and peaceful election.”

He said Coast Guard members are conducting regular patrols across Bhola district to reassure the public and maintain law and order. “Our presence will help people go to polling centres safely. Anyone trying to disrupt the voting process will be identified and dealt with according to the law,” he added.

The Coast Guard chief also said modern technology would be used to strengthen security. “We will deploy drones for surveillance, and fast boats and launches will be used to reach remote and riverine areas of Bhola,” he said.

Also present at the briefing were Coast Guard South Zone Commander Captain Md Arif Hossain, Bhola Deputy Commissioner Dr Shamim Rahman, Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah Kawsar, and other officials.
