With the slogan “The family, not the individual, is the fundamental unit of development,” the third phase of the Family Card Piloting Program was officially launched to further strengthen social protection and family-centered development initiatives across the country.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Tarique Rahman, MP, inaugurated the program at a central event held in Rajnagar Upazila of Moulvibazar District. Through virtual connectivity with the central ceremony, Family Cards were distributed simultaneously in 19 upazilas across the country, including among beneficiaries of Ghoshalkandi Village under Ward No. 1 of Sahapur Union in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila.

Under this initiative, 126 beneficiaries from Ghoshalkandi Village received Family Cards. Officials stated that the program aims to establish a family-based database and ensure that government services, social assistance, and welfare programs are delivered more effectively and efficiently to citizens at their doorstep.

The event in Gopalganj was attended by Mr. K.M. Babar, Honorable Member of Parliament for Gopalganj-2, as the chief guest. Also present were Mr. Md. Arif-Uz-Zaman, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Gopalganj; Mr. Md. Habibullah, Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj; and Mr. Sharif Rafiquzzaman, Administrator of the Gopalganj District Council.

Senior officials of the district administration, heads of various government departments, and representatives of print and electronic media also attended the program.

Officials expressed optimism that the Family Card Program will open a new horizon in implementing family-centered development planning, accurately identifying beneficiaries, and ensuring effective coordination of government services. They believe the initiative will contribute significantly to strengthening social protection mechanisms and improving the delivery of public services across the country.
