Are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tying the knot in New York City over the Fourth of July weekend? Recent comments from the New York Police Department and Mayor Zohran Mamdani suggest the answer might be yes.
While the couple has kept their wedding plans private, city officials have casually mentioned the event in public briefings.
During a Monday press conference detailing security preparations for a July 5 FIFA World Cup match and other major summer events, Mayor Mamdani openly referenced the highly anticipated nuptials.
"I am fully confident in the work of the NYPD, as well as our state partners, in delivering that safe experience," Mamdani said. "We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events... We know it coincides with the Knicks' Finals run, July 4th, America 250, and Taylor Swift's wedding—all happening at the same time."
When asked if he was invited to the wedding, the self-proclaimed Swiftie responded playfully: "No and no. I wish them a lovely wedding. I'll listen to 'Only the Young' at home on my own."
Mamdani's remarks follow a similar slip by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch earlier this month. At a City Council budget hearing regarding police overtime, Tisch listed July's major events, including "potentially Taylor Swift's wedding," before quickly adding, "I'm kidding."
According to Billboard, a city official later clarified that the mayor's comments were based on media reports—specifically a TMZ story stating Swift applied for a Madison Square Garden permit for the holiday weekend, bolstering speculation that it is her chosen venue.
Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs superstar announced their engagement in August 2025 after two years of dating. Their joint Instagram post, which gained over 37 million likes, featured a garden proposal with the caption: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
Last October, Swift told Graham Norton she was thrilled about the planning process, joking that she planned to put "anyone I've ever talked to" on the guest list. Whether the recent slips by city officials were accidental or planned, the buzz around a potential Fourth of July wedding continues to grow.
