A 23-member business delegation led by Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) President Mohd Khorshed Alam participated in the 10th China-South Asia Expo and the 30th China Kunming Import and Export Fair 2026 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
The event was held from 11 to 16 June 2026.
As Bangladesh was the theme country at the expo, six organisations participated through BCCCI: Amanat Shah Group, Techno Drugs Ltd, Akij Food & Beverage Ltd, Ayman Agro Ltd, MM Trade and BCCCI.
More than 100 Bangladeshi companies also displayed products at the Bangladesh Country Pavilion under the coordination of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Kunming.
On 11 June, BCCCI signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Chinese institutions aimed at strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
The first MoU was signed with Bank of Huzhou Co Ltd to promote banking cooperation and facilitate RMB-based trade transactions. Under the agreement, BCCCI will support the bank’s efforts to establish a representative presence in Bangladesh and explore ways to simplify bilateral trade settlements and reduce transaction costs.
The second MoU was signed with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) during the International Public Procurement Conference for the South Asian Market.
The agreement focuses on promoting bilateral trade and investment, business delegation exchanges, information sharing and institutional cooperation.
On 12 June, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of Bangladesh Day, organised with the support of the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Kunming.
Speaking on behalf of the BCCCI president, Vice President Mohammad Masud Ali Khan addressed the forum.
Adviser to the President Faizul Alam delivered a presentation highlighting investment opportunities in seven priority sectors: textiles and garments, leather and footwear, agro-processing, technical manpower and technology transfer, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, electric vehicles, and AI, ICT and e-commerce.
According to BCCCI, the presentation attracted interest from Chinese businesses and investors seeking opportunities in Bangladesh.
The delegation also attended an official dinner hosted by the Consulate General. Among those present were Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Minister of Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute; Barrister Kayser Kamal, Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad; senior government officials; Chinese investors; and business leaders.
The event provided an opportunity for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to engage directly with potential Chinese partners.
During the expo, the BCCCI delegation visited the Bangladesh Country Pavilion and met participating exhibitors.
Delegates reviewed a range of Bangladeshi products and discussed product quality, branding, market positioning and export opportunities in China.
BCCCI President Mohd Khorshed Alam stressed the need to present higher-quality, value-added and internationally competitive products in the Chinese market. He encouraged Bangladeshi companies to improve product standards, branding and packaging, and to adopt a more strategic approach to future international exhibitions.
BCCCI said its participation in the expo reflects its ongoing efforts to promote trade and investment between Bangladesh and China, expand market access for Bangladeshi products and encourage greater Chinese investment in Bangladesh.
