The Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two suspected smugglers and seized a truckload of illegal electronics in Patenga, Chittagong, early Thursday. The goods were reportedly being unloaded from a commercial ship to evade customs duties.

Acting on a tip-off, a Coast Guard team raided Wharf No. 10 under Patenga Police Station at 5:00 a.m. on June 18.

According to a press release by Coast Guard Media Officer Lt. Commander BN Suman Al Mukit, officers searched a suspicious truck and recovered smuggled goods valued at Tk 10,52,800. The seized items included two refrigerators (one standard, one deep freeze), two washing machines, and six air conditioning units (one portable, four full units, and one outdoor unit). The transport truck was also confiscated.

The suspects and seized goods have been handed over to authorities, and legal action is currently underway. The Coast Guard reiterated its commitment to continuing strict anti-smuggling operations in the region.
