


The Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued a father and his teenage son alive after their fishing boat capsized in the Meghna River near Bhola’s Ilisha launch ghat on Monday.
The survivors have been identified as Md. Alamgir Goldar, 45 and his son Md. Mizanur Rahman, 13. Both are residents of Kandakpur village in Bhola Sadar Upazila.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan, Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard confirmed the incident on Monday afternoon. According to officials the small fishing vessel sank after being struck by strong river waves near the Ilisha launch ghat area.
Upon receiving the information, a special team from Coast Guard Station Ilisha immediately launched a rapid rescue operation. They successfully pulled the two fishermen from the water alive and provided them with first aid and food.
Following the rescue the Coast Guard also recovered the sunken boat from the river. Both the survivors and their vessel have since been safely handed over to their family.
