Students of Jhalakati Government High School formed a human chain on Thursday morning to protest the tragic death of their classmate, Md. Solaiman Rafi, in a recent road crash.
Hundreds of students, including Rafi's classmates from the sixth-grade morning section, gathered in front of the school to demand immediate justice and capital punishment for the bus driver involved in the incident. Holding banners with Rafi's portrait, the protesters chanted slogans urging authorities to take decisive action.
The protesting students alleged that Rafi’s death was not a mere accident, but the direct result of reckless driving. They demanded a prompt investigation, the immediate arrest of the driver, and exemplary punishment to deter future incidents. Furthermore, the students urged local administration to enforce stricter road safety measures to prevent further loss of life on the roads.
School teachers and local pedestrians also joined the demonstration, expressing solidarity with the students' demands for safer roads and accountability.
