A preparatory workshop on cluster development was held in Faridpur’s Madhukhali municipality on Tuesday to outline sustainable urban planning, infrastructure expansion, and improved citizen services.
Organized jointly by the Madhukhali Municipality and the Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP), the event took place at the Upazila Hallroom. The initiative is co-funded by the Bangladesh government and the World Bank.
Speakers emphasized the need for a comprehensive master plan to build a modern, eco-friendly municipality. Officials announced that public feedback from the session will directly inform the area's upcoming development strategies to meet future community needs.
Madhukhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Municipal Administrator Rowshana Jahan chaired the session, which was moderated by RUTDP Urban Planner Saifur Rahman and Upazila Social Service Officer Kallol Saha.
Technical experts from RUTDP—including Assistant Engineer Saifur Rahman Hridoy, Social Management Specialist Md. Jahidul Islam, and Environmental Specialist Al Amin—discussed the technical and social requirements of sustainable city building.
The workshop prioritized community voices. Local political figures, including Upazila BNP Joint General Secretary Mihir Kumar Bablu, Municipal BNP General Secretary Md. Yasin Biswas, and Municipal Jamaat Ameer Maulana Rezaul Karim, shared perspectives on public safety and local infrastructure.
Around 50 stakeholders attended, including Town-Level Coordination Committee (TLCC) members, local engineers, and administrative officials. Project leaders confirmed that the recommendations gathered will be integrated into the municipality's upcoming master plan.
