Ratna Rani, a student at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), has won first place in the Climate and Environmental Science category at the Bangladesh Agricultural Olympiad Season 4.
She secured the top position in a highly competitive national contest that attracted 5,357 participants from 65 educational institutions across the country. Organisers announced the results on June 2 via the Olympiad’s official social media channels.
Themed “Youth in Action, Smarter Farming in Motion,” the competition began on January 8. Following a case-solving round on January 17, the grand finale and award ceremony took place on May 15 at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).
Ratna credited her teachers and peers for their support, specifically highlighting the guidance of Associate Professor Papri Hazra from the Department of Environmental Science.
“Securing first place was quite surprising for me,” Ratna said. “I hope to apply the knowledge gained here to address real-world agricultural and environmental challenges in rural areas.”
She emphasized that national competitions help students build crucial skills while representing their institutions on broader platforms.
The Bangladesh Agricultural Olympiad is one of the country's largest platforms for promoting youth innovation in sustainable agriculture, environmental science, and technology.
