A special firefighting exercise was held at Chittagong Port on Tuesday to strengthen the port’s emergency response capacity and raise safety awareness.
The exercise took place at 11:00 am in front of the DTM Operation Building inside Jetty Gate No. 4 as part of “Port Safety Week.”
The port’s own fire brigade, along with officials from different departments, took part in the drill.
According to port authorities, the exercise was organised to assess the preparedness of officers and employees in handling fire incidents and other emergencies, while also testing the effectiveness of modern firefighting equipment.
Chittagong Port Director (Security) Lieutenant Commander Sajjad Hossain said the exercise aimed to improve the port’s operational capacity and strengthen inter-service coordination during emergencies.
He added that the drill also demonstrated response procedures in case a container catches fire inside the port area.
