National Disaster Preparedness Day Observed in Nageshwari

National Disaster Preparedness Day was celebrated in Nageshwari Upazila on Tuesday under the theme: “We will fight against disasters, build a Bangladesh of the youth.”

A rally organized by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Project Implementation Officer’s Office began at 10 am from the Upazila Parishad, covered key roads of the town, and returned to the starting point.

After the rally, a fire drill was conducted to demonstrate disaster response and raise public awareness.

Officials and local leaders present included Upazila Executive Officer Sharmin Jahan Luna, Senior Fisheries Officer Shahadat Hossain, Agriculture Officer Shahriar Hossain, Project Implementation Officer Mofakhdharul Islam, BRDB Officer Golam Mostafa, and Fire Service and Civil Defense Station In-charge Shahadat Hossain. Representatives from Nageshwari Press Club, including Omar Faruk and Rafiqul Islam, also attended, along with other community members.

The event aimed to educate citizens about preparedness and build resilience against disasters, emphasizing the role of youth in fostering a safe and aware community.
