The upazila administration has provided emergency assistance to two indigenous families whose houses were destroyed in a fire in Porsha Upazila.

The aid was distributed on Tuesday by the Department of Disaster Management under the local administration.

According to officials, two semi-paka tin-shed houses belonging to two brothers, Biton and Liton, residents of Kamardha village, were completely burned down due to an electrical short circuit on the night of 24 February.

After the incident, the affected families applied for assistance from the local administration.

Following the application, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Islam invited the family members to his office and handed over relief materials. The assistance included two bundles of tin sheets, Tk6,000 in cash, four blankets and two food packages.

Officials said the support was provided from the government’s disaster relief allocation to help the families recover from the fire.

Project Implementation Officer Mahmudul Haque Titu and Riazul Haque, OCLSD of Nitpur Food Warehouse, were present during the distribution of the relief materials.
