A leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has urged residents to immediately report any incidents of drugs, gambling or terrorism in their areas.
Chaudhuri Nayab Yusuf, BNP leader from Faridpur-3 constituency, made the call while distributing Eid and Ramadan assistance among women in the Harukandi area of Faridpur municipality on Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking as the chief guest at the programme, she said there would be no compromise with drugs, gambling or terrorist activities.
“If you see such activities anywhere in your area, inform the police immediately. If necessary, you can also inform me,” she said.
She warned that drugs and similar illegal activities are harming society and destroying the future of young people. “These immoral activities must be stopped at any cost,” she added.
During his speech, Nayab Yusuf also spoke about the importance of the BNP’s electoral symbol, the sheaf of rice, describing it as a symbol of the people’s struggle and hopes.
She also criticised vote trading in elections, saying that selling votes for money harms the democratic process and can negatively affect the entire constituency.
Among others present at the programme were former President of Kotwali Thana BNP Rauf Un Nabi, Metropolitan BNP Joint Secretary Mizanur Rahman Mrinal, and General Secretary of Metropolitan Jubo Dal Rezwan Biswas Torun, along with other party leaders and activists.
