During the holy month of Ramadan, an iftar gathering was organised for orphan and underprivileged children in Chattogram, highlighting the spirit of compassion and social responsibility.
Zahirul Haque Tutul, joint convener of the Chattogram Metropolitan Volunteer Party and a former founding president of Akbar Shah Thana Chhatra Dal, joined the children at the event held in the North Pahartali area of Chattogram. Tutul is also a prospective councillor candidate for Ward No. 9 in North Pahartali.
Children from orphaned and distressed families took part in the iftar. Tutul and other guests sat alongside them, shared the meal and distributed iftar items before sunset. Organisers said the event aimed to offer both support and companionship to children in need.
Several local leaders and party activists were present, including Rajib Akand, joint convener of the Chattogram Metropolitan Volunteer Party, Mansur Ahmed Mohan of Akbar Shah Thana Jubo Dal, Jahedul Haque, Zakaria Rajib, Kausar Hossain Ledu, Kamrul Shakir Rahat, and other local representatives.
Speaking at the event, Tutul said Ramadan teaches values of empathy and humanity. “It is our moral duty to stand beside helpless and orphaned children. We will continue such humanitarian efforts in the future,” he said.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, saying such activities send a positive message and provide some relief to struggling families.
They added that wider participation by socially conscious citizens could help strengthen community harmony.
