Police recovered 219 rounds of shotgun cartridges on Sunday morning after draining a pond located within the Daganbhuiyan Police Station premises.
The ammunition is believed to be part of the equipment looted or lost during the unrest on August 5. Acting on a tip-off that missing gear might have been discarded in the water, authorities began irrigating the pond on February 22.
The operation was conducted in the presence of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Sonagazi Circle) Syed Mumid Raihan and Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faizul Azim Noman. Once the water was cleared, the cartridges—all marked "Bangladesh Police"—were discovered in the mud.
OC Faizul Azim Noman confirmed that 365 bullets were originally looted from the station during the August uprising. With 219 rounds now accounted for, the search continues to determine if any further weapons or ammunition remain submerged. The recovered items are currently in police custody pending further legal procedures.
