Professor Dr. Md. Rubel Mahmud has assumed office as the Chairman of the Department of Plant Pathology at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU).
According to an official order issued by the Office of the University Registrar on 21 January 2026, he has been appointed to the post for a three-year term, effective from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2028, and will enjoy financial and other benefits as per university regulations.
Professor Dr. Md. Rubel Mahmud is a resident of Bakerganj upazila in Barishal district. He obtained his higher master’s degree from Ghent University in Belgium and later earned his PhD from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (IM-UCAS) in Beijing, China.
His primary research focus is plant disease resistance mechanisms. He has published a number of research articles on this subject in both national and international scientific journals.
After assuming the position, he expressed his commitment to making the department’s academic and research activities more effective and dynamic.
