West Indies clinched the second match of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in a dramatic Super Over thriller in Mirpur, levelling the series at 1-1.
Bangladesh, batting first, managed to post 213 for seven, largely thanks to a late innings surge led by Rishad Hossain. Coming in at number nine, Rishad smashed an unbeaten 39 off just 14 balls, including three fours and three sixes, sharing a crucial 50-run unbroken stand off only 24 deliveries with Mehidy Hasan Miraz (32 not out off 58). Earlier, opener Soumya Sarkar anchored the innings with 45 (89) as wickets fell around him.
The West Indies bowling attack made history by using spinners for the entire 50-over quota, a first in men's ODI cricket. Spinners Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, and Alick Athanaze accounted for the early Bangladeshi wickets on the turning pitch.
The match ended in a tie, leading to the Super Over decider, which West Indies won to set up a tantalising final match.
