Bangladesh established a commanding position in the Sylhet Test against Ireland on Day 3, securing a massive first-innings lead and leaving the visitors struggling at 86 for 5 at stumps, still trailing by 215 runs.

Bangladesh declared their first innings at 587 for 8, built on two centuries:

Mahmudul Hasan Joy added only two runs to his overnight score before being dismissed by Barry McCarthy, his 171 stands as the second-highest score by a Bangladeshi opener.

Najmul Hossain Shanto , The captain registered his eighth Test century and fourth as captain.

Mominul Haque fell early for 82. Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim (23) put on a 79-run recovery stand. The acceleration came from Liton Das, who smashed a quick-fire 60 off 66 balls in a 98-run partnership with Shanto.

Left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys was the standout bowler for Ireland, claiming his second Test five-wicket haul (5-170).
