Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman declared on Saturday (January 31) that the citizens of Bangladesh are ready to dismantle the legacy of fascism and misrule in favor of a humane, justice-based state.
Speaking at a massive election rally in the Cumilla-11 (Chauddagram) constituency, Dr. Shafiqur emphasized that the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance is fighting for national liberation rather than narrow partisan gains. The rally was held in support of Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, the alliance’s candidate for the upcoming polls. "We no longer want fascism, corruption, or misrule. The people want a humane Bangladesh founded on justice," the Ameer stated.
The Ameer pledged that a future government led by the alliance would uproot systemic financial crimes. Vowing to end bank looting, extortion, and stock market scams. A warning that those refusing to reform will face prosecution without immunity. Questioning the integrity of those who assault women and promising a "moral response" to any future violence against them.
Dr. Shafiqur warned against underestimating the "July generation," referring to the youth-led uprising. "The youth of July have not slept," he cautioned, framing the February 12 election as the final step toward the change people have sought since the revolution.
National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, also speaking at the rally, described the election as a direct continuation of the July Uprising’s sacrifices. He warned external "hegemonic forces" that only the Bangladeshi people hold the authority to determine their government.
