


Twelve candidates have withdrawn their nominations from 16 parliamentary constituencies in Chattogram on the final day of nomination withdrawal for the 13th National Parliament election.
Tuesday (20 January) was the last date for candidates to withdraw nominations under the Election Commission’s schedule. Candidates from several political parties completed the process within the stipulated time.
In Chattogram-2, Md Osman Ali of the Bangladesh Supreme Party and HM Ashraf Bin Yaqub of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis withdrew their nominations.
In Chattogram-5, Syed Moktar Ahmed of the Bangladesh Islamic Front withdrew.
In Chattogram-6, Golam Akbar Khandaker of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) withdrew his nomination.
In Chattogram-7, Md Abul Kalam of Khelafat Majlis withdrew. In Chattogram-8, Mohammad Enayet Ullah of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis withdrew.
In Chattogram-9, Md Nezam Uddin of the Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party withdrew his nomination.
Further withdrawals included Mohammad Lokman of the Amar Bangladesh Party in Chattogram-11, Emdadul Hasan of the Gono Odhikar Parishad in Chattogram-12, and Mohammad Imran of Khelafat Majlis in Chattogram-13.
In Chattogram-16, Md Kafil Uddin Chowdhury of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Muhammad Musa of the Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party also withdrew their nominations.
Meanwhile, no candidates withdrew from Chattogram-1, Chattogram-3, Chattogram-4, Chattogram-10, Chattogram-14 and Chattogram-15 constituencies.
According to the Election Commission schedule, election symbols will be allotted on Wednesday (21 January). Official campaigning will run from 22 January to 10 February, while voting and the referendum will be held on 12 February.
