


A clash has taken place between the residents of Saltha upazila and Boalmari upazila of Faridpur over the issue of dominance and post-election violence. During this, houses were vandalized and set on fire. Upon receiving the information, the army and police of the two upazilas went to the spot and brought the situation under control. At least 20 people from both sides were injured in this.
The clash and vandalism took place in the Moyendiya Bazar area on the border of Saltha upazila and Boalmari upazila from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday (February 14). It was not possible to initially identify the injured.
Police and local sources have learned that there has been a long-standing dispute between the supporters of Parameswardi UP Chairman Mannan Matubbar of Boalmari upazila and the supporters of Tulu Mia and Jihad Mia of Khardiya village of Saltha upazila over the issue of dominance and voting in the elections. As a result, a clash broke out around 10 am on Saturday. The clashers vandalized and set fire to houses. On receiving the information, the army and police reached the spot and controlled the clash.
It was not possible to get the statement of both the parties on this issue. Their mobile numbers were also found switched off.
Confirming the matter, Faridpur Assistant Superintendent of Police (Saltha-Nagarkanda) Circle Mahmudul Hasan said, the clash broke out due to a dispute between two groups of Moyendiya and Khardiya over dominance. On receiving the information, the police and army reached the spot and calmed the situation. In this incident, a raid was conducted and local weapons were recovered and some people were arrested. Our raid is continuing. Action will be taken against the culprits.
