Md. Mahfuj Alam, the Information and Broadcasting Adviser, has asserted that the inclusion of "July warriors" and participants from the recent mass uprising into the media network is crucial for bringing about a qualitative transformation in the profession.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the "Investigative Journalism Training for July Warriors" at NIMCO, Mahfuj Alam directly called upon these participants to join the media, stating it is "essential for the sake of the nation." He emphasized that they must accept the challenge to bring about positive change.
The Adviser made a pointed remark regarding the current media landscape, claiming that individuals affiliated with the Awami League (AL) still hold positions, particularly in the "second or third layers" of media organizations, and are allegedly attempting to "destabilize the country."
To empower the July warriors, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is supervising training programs through institutions like PIB, NIMCO, and BCTI in journalism and film studies. Mahfuz Alam confirmed that at least 300 July warriors and members of the families of the martyrs are expected to receive this training by December. He expressed hope that the future elected government will continue the initiative out of moral responsibility.
He advised the trained participants that while their "July warrior" identity reflects their spirit and motivation, it must "not overshadow" their creative work. Instead, their professional role must serve "truth, Bangladesh, and its sovereignty."
