The Faridpur Municipality launched a comprehensive eviction drive on Sunday afternoon to remove illegal establishments and free up city footpaths.

Led by Chief Executive Officer Hossain Mohammad Hai Zakir, a team of municipal officials initiated the operation in front of the municipal supermarket. The drive successfully cleared unauthorized shops, structures, and goods that had been encroaching on public walkways and roads.

The primary goal of the initiative is to ensure safe, unobstructed passage for pedestrians and to restore order to the city's traffic system.

"City sidewalks and roads are strictly for the normal movement of pedestrians and vehicles," said CEO Zakir during the operation. "There is no room for unauthorized businesses to occupy them. This eviction campaign will continue to ensure public convenience."

Zakir issued a stern warning to current and potential encroachers, urging them to voluntarily remove their goods and structures. He emphasized that the municipality will take strict legal measures against any future attempts to illegally occupy public spaces.

Municipal authorities confirmed that these clearance campaigns will proceed in phases across key areas of Faridpur city to maintain long-term order.

Local residents and pedestrians warmly welcomed the municipality's initiative. Many expressed optimism that keeping the footpaths clear will significantly ease daily movement and help alleviate the city's ongoing traffic congestion.
