7 Bangladeshis from Naogaon Reportedly Killed in Saudi Arabia Factory Fire

Seven Bangladeshis from Atrai Upazila of Naogaon have reportedly died in a fire at a sofa factory in Saudi Arabia.

Atrai Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed the deaths to local media at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 9.

According to the UNO, four of the deceased are from Gondogohali village, two are from Bisha village, and one is from Parkasunda village in Atrai. He said the death toll could rise as authorities continue to verify the situation.

Meanwhile, various figures—including 15, 17 and 19 deaths—have been circulating on social media. However, authorities have so far confirmed information about seven deaths from Atrai.

News of the deaths has cast a pall of grief across Atrai, with relatives and local residents awaiting further information about the victims and the circumstances of the fire.
