The body of Bangladeshi PhD student Jamil Ahmed Limon, who was murdered in the United States, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning.

The body reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:47 am on May 4 on an Emirates Airlines flight. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid received the body. Limon’s parents and relatives were present at the airport.

After formalities, the family left for Jamalpur with the body. He will be buried in Madarganj after Maghrib prayers, family members said.

Limon’s father, Zahurul Haque, broke down in grief. “As a father, I am deeply saddened. I raised my sons with care and never imagined such an end,” he said.

A maternal uncle said the funeral will be held in Madarganj after Maghrib. He added that the family had no prior indication of any threats or conflict. “He never mentioned problems with his roommate or any danger. Everything seemed normal,” he said.

The family has called for justice from both the Bangladesh and US governments.

Jamil Ahmed Limon, 27, was pursuing a PhD in Geography, Environmental Science and Policy at the University of South Florida. He went missing on April 16. His body was later recovered from the Howard Frankland Bridge on Friday morning.
