Sunamganj-3 Officials Hold Briefing on Election Conduct and Voter Turnout

Local officials and election candidates met Thursday to discuss strict adherence to the code of conduct and strategies to increase voter turnout for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election.

The meeting, held at the Shantiganj Upazila Parishad conference room, brought together administrators, law enforcement, and political representatives to ensure a fair and peaceful voting environment for the Sunamganj-3 (Jagannathpur-Shantiganj) constituency.

Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Shahjahan, who chaired the session, emphasized that all candidates and political parties must strictly follow the Election Commission’s guidelines. The briefing covered regulations regarding public campaigning, the prevention of election-day irregularities, and the legal consequences of code violations.

Shantiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Oli Ullah assured attendees that security measures are in place to maintain order throughout the campaign period and on election day. Beyond enforcement, the meeting focused on a referendum campaign and a "promotion of voting" initiative. Officials urged local Union Parishad (UP) chairmen and community leaders to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote, highlighting the importance of a high turnout for the democratic process.

The session saw active participation from across the political and administrative spectrum, including Barrister Anwar Hossain, independent candidate for Sunamganj-3. Anisar Uddin, member of the Upazila BNP Convening Committee. Fatema-Tuj-Zohra, Assistant Commissioner (Land). Various departmental heads and Union Parishad chairmen.

Officials concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to a transparent and inclusive election.
