UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is hosting a high-level meeting at Downing Street today (Sunday) to coordinate ongoing support for Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are scheduled to attend according to The Guardian.
The summit follows a sharp escalation in the Russia-Ukraine war and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent rejection of a direct meeting with Zelensky.
The UK, France, and Germany remain among Kyiv's closest allies. Britain and France currently lead the 'Coalition of the Willing,' an initiative designed to secure long-term peace and security guarantees for Ukraine.
On the battlefield, the conflict continues to intensify. Ukraine launched a major attack on Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, on Saturday. While no casualties were immediately reported, the operation demonstrates Kyiv's growing capability to strike deep within Russian territory.
Meanwhile, Russian forces have maintained their offensive. In Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, one person was killed and three others injured following a wave of attacks. Regional head Oleksandr Hanzha confirmed that Russian troops carried out roughly 30 strikes across three districts using drones and heavy artillery.
These regional attacks follow a deadly week across Ukraine, where earlier Russian strikes killed one civilian and injured 15 others, including three children. In response, Ukrainian air defenses have reportedly intercepted hundreds of incoming long-range Russian drones over the past few days.
