BNP Upholding Hasina's Constitution, Opposing Referendum: NCP's Nasir Patwari

National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari has accused the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) of working to preserve Sheikh Hasina's constitution and protecting offenders from the 2024 mass uprising.

Speaking at the 'July Awakening March' rally at the Kurigram Central Shaheed Minar on Wednesday, Patwari claimed the BNP is actively opposing a constitutional referendum demanded by 70 percent of the public.

"BNP leaders are taking ransoms to protect those who murdered people during the 2024 movement," Patwari alleged. He accused the party of manipulating tribunals with loyalists and forcibly taking over banks, educational institutions, and mosque committees across the country.

Stating that the sacrifices of martyrs like Abu Sayeed are being betrayed by renewed extortion and political terror, Patwari heavily criticized the BNP for allegedly serving foreign interests and preserving a "Mujibist" state framework.

"The BNP has grown wings, expecting to win 200 seats. We want to make it clear that if necessary state reforms are not completed, those wings will break and fall to the ground," he warned.

The rally concluded a citywide march that began earlier in the afternoon at the local Victory Monument. Other notable speakers at the event included NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Northern Coordinator Sarjis Alam and Kurigram-2 MP Dr. Atiq Mujahid.
