


Legendary Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday after falling ill. The 92-year-old icon is currently receiving treatment in the emergency unit.
Initial reports from several Indian media outlets suggested the singer suffered a cardiac arrest. However, her granddaughter, Janai Bhosle, later clarified the situation on social media to ease public concern.
"My grandmother has been admitted due to excessive fatigue and a chest infection," Janai wrote on Instagram. "The treatment is ongoing, and we hope for a speedy recovery. We request privacy at this time and will share positive updates soon."
A career spanning over eight decades has seen Asha Bhosle record thousands of songs across multiple languages. Her mastery of diverse genres—from classical and ghazals to pop and folk—remains unparalleled in the industry. For her immense contributions, she has been honored with India’s highest cinematic prize, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, as well as the Padma Vibhushan.
The veteran singer remains under close medical supervision as fans across the subcontinent pray for her recovery.
