Two ships carrying a total of 68,000 tonnes of diesel have arrived in Bangladesh from Malaysia.
The vessels—MT Lucia Solis and MT Torm Damini—reached the Alpha Anchorage of Chittagong Port via the Kutubdia Channel on Tuesday night (April 14).
MT Lucia Solis, carrying 34,991 tonnes of diesel, was berthed at the port’s Dolphin Jetty during high tide on Wednesday.
MT Torm Damini brought 32,935 tonnes of diesel. After unloading around 7,000 tonnes through lightering, the vessel was also taken to the Dolphin Jetty.
Officials from Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) confirmed the arrivals.
According to BPC sources, the diesel is being supplied by Unipec (Singapore) Pte Ltd, China, and PT Bumi Siak Pusaku (BSP), Indonesia—both regular suppliers.
Md. Nazrul Islam, managing partner of Pride Shipping Lines, the local agent for the vessels, said the ships reached the Alpha Anchorage around 11pm on Tuesday. “Some diesel was lightered before berthing at the jetty,” he added.
Sources said the Danish-flagged MT Torm Damini and Indonesian-flagged MT Lucia Solis departed Johor Port, Malaysia, on April 9.
