


A workshop titled “Current Context of Tuber Crops and Future Directions” was held on July 26 at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). The event was organized by BARI’s Tuber Crops Research Centre (TCRC).
Participants discussed the current production landscape, research advancements, and strategies to boost tuber crop yields. Speakers highlighted the critical role of tuber crops in ensuring Bangladesh's food security and strengthening the agricultural economy emphasizing the need to advance the sector through technological innovation and research extension.
TCRC Director Dr. Nirmal Kumar Dutta chaired the session with BARI Director General Dr. Md. Manjurul Qadir attending as the chief guest. Special guests included several BARI Directors: Dr. Reshma Sultana (Training & Communication), Dr. Faruk Ahmed (Research), Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Mollah (Services & Supply) and Dr. Habib Mohammad Naser (Planning & Evaluation).
Dr. Md. Khorshed Alam TCRC Chief Scientific Officer and Project Director, delivered the keynote address. The workshop attended by senior scientists and officials from various institutions was funded by BARI’s Tuber Crops Research Strengthening Project (TCRSP).
