Seven policemen were injured on Friday night when a local teen gang attacked them during an anti-narcotics raid in Chattogram’s Khulshi Ambagan area.
The incident occurred around 8:30 PM near the Tarun Sangha field. A police team, led by Sub-Inspectors Mohsin Uddin Rubel and Mominul Islam, launched the drive to apprehend Alamgir, a notorious local drug dealer. As officers moved in, a teen gang reportedly controlled by the suspect hurled stones at them. Seven officers including both SIs sustained injuries and were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment.
In response to the attack locals used mosque loudspeakers to rally residents, sparking a brief clash with Alamgir’s followers. Additional police forces were rapidly deployed to bring the situation under control.
Alamgir, who faces over 15 criminal cases, allegedly uses local teen gangs to run his drug syndicate and routinely intimidates residents. Locals claim several of his family members are also involved in the illicit network. Despite multiple previous arrests he has repeatedly secured bail.
Double Mooring Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Shahinur Alam confirmed that strict legal action is underway against those who assaulted law enforcement. Following intensive efforts, police successfully arrested Alamgir later that night at 11:00 PM.
