A mobile court fined two private clinics in Narail's Kalia municipality a total of Tk 1 lakh on Saturday for severe operational irregularities and risking patient safety.

The Drive lead by Kalia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sraboni Biswas targeted Khadija Sheba Clinic and Diagnostic Center as well as Samrat Surgical Clinic and Care Diagnostic Center. Kalia Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Abdul Hasib and local police assisted in the operation.

During the inspections, the court found admitted patients left without responsible doctors or on-duty nurses. Additional violations included expired operating licenses and a failure to document the identities of anesthetists who administered anesthesia during surgeries.

For these severe lapses in medical protocol, both institutions were fined Tk 50,000 each under the Consumer Rights Protection Act.

Following the penalties, Executive Magistrate Sraboni Biswas sternly directed the clinic owners to immediately rectify the identified issues. She emphasized that all healthcare activities must strictly comply with government regulations to ensure safe and quality medical services for the public.
